Bedroom Vastu Direction

The master bedroom is best placed in the south-west (Nairutya), the zone of earth, stability and relationships. Sleeping in the south-west grounds the head of the household, supports restful sleep and strengthens relationships. The heavier, more permanent bedroom belongs here, anchoring the home's energy in its most stable corner.

Other bedrooms are matched to their occupants: children suit the west or north-west, guests suit the north-west, and a bedroom that doubles as a study leans towards the north or east. The one placement to treat with care is the north-east, which is better reserved for a pooja room or light living space than a master bedroom.

Within the bedroom, position the bed so the head points towards the south or east while sleeping, and avoid the head pointing north, which Vastu associates with disturbed rest. The bed is best placed against the south or west wall, leaving the north and east of the room more open. Avoid placing the bed directly in line with the door or under a heavy beam.

Keep mirrors and electronics away from directly facing the bed. A mirror that reflects the sleeping person is considered undesirable; if unavoidable, cover it at night. Heavier wardrobes belong along the south and west walls.
